INTEGRATIVE SOMATIC THERAPY

Laura Colomban’s practice integrates the Tamalpa Life/Art Process® and integrative psychotherapy to provide a comprehensive therapeutic approach.

Tamalpa Life/Art Process®

The Tamalpa Life/Art Process® is a renowned therapeutic methodology that merges movement, expressive arts, and creative writing to foster personal transformation. Developed by Anna and Lawrence Halprin, this process is rooted in the belief that the body’s wisdom and creative expression can unlock deep emotional and psychological healing. Laura, as a certified practitioner, uses this method to guide clients through an exploration of their physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts, using movement and creativity to address life’s challenges.

During a typical session, clients engage in expressive movement, drawing, and dialogue to release emotional blocks, uncover patterns, and explore new possibilities. Aware of the limitations and fear of meeting these mediums, everything it is going to go at the client’s pace and needs.
This holistic approach is particularly beneficial for those dealing with trauma, stress, creative blocks, or significant life changes. It’s an ideal process for artists and non-artists alike, allowing individuals to tap into their innate creativity to bring about healing and personal growth.

Integrative Psychotherapy

Laura also employs integrative psychotherapy as a trainee Integrative Psychotherapist, which blends various therapeutic modalities to meet the unique needs of each client. This approach combines elements of somatic therapy, existential and psychoanalytic theory, mindfulness, and body-based psychotherapy, offering a flexible framework for addressing complex emotional and psychological issues. Laura tailors her sessions to focus not only on the mind but also on the body, emotions, and the environment, considering each client’s cultural and social background.

Her integrative method is particularly effective for managing issues such as anxiety, depression, body image, grief, and identity-related concerns, offering a compassionate and personalized approach to healing. This therapeutic style encourages clients to engage both mentally and physically in their healing journey, fostering a deeper connection between the body and mind.
